What can you do for market sustainability? There are many paths to sustainability success. This includes the following:

  • Use PDF for brochures, reports and presentations
  • Use webinars to provide information to customers, suppliers, teams, prospects...
  • Use more integrated (and targeted) email
  • Use a clean mailing list
  • Clean internal mailing list
  • Use environmentally friendly materials such as paper and ink
  • Use electronic invoices for customer invoices
  • Satisfy customers with eco-friendly solutions


Use vendors who use sustainable methods to produce artwork, printouts, websites, videos, and advertisements.
Each of them not only uses more sustainable marketing, but also saves money. Let me use a few of them to explain how they contribute to sustainable marketing.



Using PDF for Brochures Using PDF for brochures means customers can quickly modify their brochures to reflect what they are discussing with their prospects. Potential customers receive it via email as soon as it's done and handle the entire buying process much faster.

Targeting brochures to prospects gives links more impact. Potential clients see that the agency understands their unique situation. Also, it is easier for potential clients to send brochures through their organization for discussion.

There are other ways to get more sales with PDF brochures, but I'll leave that to your imagination.

And the end result is huge savings in printing costs and more flexibility of use.

Better e-charging In November 2006, British Telecom switched to e-charging for its customers. 160,000 customers decided to write off paper bills. It means:

Other institutions such as Halifax have also turned to electronic bank statements. And, of course, online banks like Egg and Smile already have electronic bank statements for their customers. Agents can join e-invoicing by creating invoices and purchase orders electronically. This reduces printing, ink and paper costs.

All my own invoices for consulting and training are generated and sent electronically. It makes everyone's life easier and saves a lot of money in special papers and folders.

In short, research is needed to find different ways of working, which means marketing is becoming more sustainable.

As always, conclusions are important. And only when making sure that the benefits of switching to sustainable marketing are highlighted and shown to agency staff and clients are they greeted with enthusiasm.
